LEL monitoring with display in Ex zones
If flammable gases and vapors are to be monitored in Ex zones, the CC28 D transmitter is a reliable and economical solution. The CC28 D transmits measured values and status displays analog (4-20 mA). In addition, on-site indication is provided on the display. The special stack effect ensures the shortest response times of a few seconds for rapid warning of explosion hazards. In combination with GfG's proven controllers, installation in new gas detection systems as well as retrofitting in existing systems is possible.
The CC28 D uses catalytic combustion (CC; also heat tone or HT) to detect combustible gases and vapors such as methane, propane and hydrogen. The current measured value can be read at any time on the 2.2-inch display, which lights up red in the event of an alarm. The long-life sensors make the CC28 D an economical solution for detecting a wide range of combustible gases in the measuring ranges 0 to 100 % LEL and 0 to 4 % by volume (NH3). Automatic temperature compensation and linearization of the measurement signals ensure high measurement accuracy.
Explosion protection, functional safety and device protection
The CC28 has ATEX certification for use in Ex zone 1. Its hardware complies with the European Functional Safety Standard DIN EN 61508-2: 2011 (SIL). The housing is protected against ingress of dust and water (protection class: IP64). An optional weatherproof housing provides additional protection.
Communication and service
Signal transmission is based on the analog industry standard (4-20 mA). The transmitter indicates operating states via two status LEDs. Service and settings are performed intuitively on site using three buttons directly on the device (one-man adjustment). The pre-adjusted sensors can be easily replaced thanks to Smart Sensor technology. The multicolor backlit display shows the current measured value, status messages and the CC28 D menu. Test gases can be fed in with a flow-through adapter for function checks. If the CC28 D has been installed near the ceiling, a specially developed remote calibration adapter allows the test gas to be supplied without affecting the sensor's stack effect.
