IR24 Transmitter

Transmitter for selective monitoring of carbon dioxide

Carbon dioxide is a gas used or produced in many industrial or commercial areas. CO2 is odorless and harmful to human health, even in low concentrations. Since it is heavier than air, it displaces the oxygen close to the ground and in confined spaces. Because of these risks, the gas must be monitored wherever it is used or may occur. Our IR24 monitor is a great choice for reliable and selective CO2 monitoring. It is is very low maintenance, not susceptible to sensor poisons or environmental influences and offers long sensor life.

Carbon dioxide is very versatile and produced by many processes such as combustion or fermentation. CO2 is toxic and displaces existing oxygen, especially near the ground, because it is heavier than air. These risks and its low warning effect (CO2 is odorless, tasteless and colorless) make a gas detection system for monitoring carbon dioxide an important part of the safety concept of many applications. The IR24 transmitter with its reliable infrared measuring method is a great solution, when used in combination with a GfG controller.

Reliable sensor technology
The sturdy aluminum housing is protected against the ingress of dust and water (IP54). To meet your exact requirements, we offer sensors with different measuring ranges for selective CO2 monitoring, such as 0 to 5 vol % or 0 to 25 vol %. The advantage of non-dispersive infrared technology (NDIR), besides its selectivity, is that it is not susceptible to other gases, sensor poisons or ambient conditions. While the reliable measurement principle responds specifically to CO2, eliminating false alarms, the IR24's electronics handle temperature compensation to ensure stable measurement results even when temperatures fluctuate.

Communication and service
The IR24 transmits its measurements to a connected controller for evaluation. The controller also constantly monitors the transmitter's operation. It is available in two versions: either with an output signal of 0.2-1 mA or with 4-20 mA. The cover plate on the front of the transmitter housing can be pushed to the side for maintenance; it is not necessary to open the transmitter housing. Test gases for function tests can be inserted via an optional calibration adapter. Adjustment of the sensor can be performed on site by a single technician. Due to the long sensor life and low service demands, follow-up costs are low.
